International Women's Day Celebration
International Women’s Day Celebration
‘How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!’
International Women’s Day is commemorated to remember and appreciate the achievements of women. It also stresses the vital role of women as agents of development. Women are the major part of the society and play a great role in the economic, political, and social activities and ‘Equality for women is progress for all’.
‘Koffee with Moms’ was a special event organized at Orchids- The International School, Hyderabad, to recognize, appreciate and honour a few working women of different fields. With their children studying in Orchids, they are actively involved in the activities of the school. They perfectly balance their personal and professional areas.
The participant were-
Dr. Durga Bhavani Kalavalapalli, Consultant Neonatologist NICE Hospital for women and newborn children, mother of two kids, who aspires to be a complete woman, an achiever in family and professional life
Namita Kant, Stock trader, a caring and dutiful daughter and mother of a teenage daughter
Neha G Subramaniam, an artist by profession who searches for expression through art and mother of a teenage son. She has painted more than 200 Paintings on various subjects of life.
Kavitha Reddy is an entrepreneur and mother of an eleven- year- old son. She is a business woman and runs a restaurant. Her hobbies are cooking traditional dishes, reading books and designing and stitching clothes.
Shweta Singh, Director, EQUINOX SOLUTIONS and mother of a cute seven- year- old daughter. She was one of the participants in GLADRAGS Mrs. India Beauty Pageant.
Kousalya, a renowned name in South Indian Cinema, a singer by profession and mother of an eight- year- old son. She rendered more than 400 songs for Telugu, Tamil & Kannada films and has worked with renowned musicians and playback singers.
Principal and host Ms. Mona Mehdi introduced them and spoke to them about the challenges they face as a home maker and also a career woman.
The six Moms also demonstrated the way they help their kids who wish to give handmade cards to their teachers. They also participated in ‘Know your child’ quiz responding very eagerly to the questions asked. Principal, Ms. Mona Mehdi presented them gift hampers, as tokens of appreciation of their remarkable achievements in their fields.

Farewell to class X
Farewell to
the Tenth
That was a
touching farewell organized by the ninth class for their seniors on 24/2/14.The
farewell mood had set in fifteen days before the event in all seriousness to
make it an event for every one to cherish for a lifetime.
Deeksha Pandey and Raj Kishan of class X were
crowned as Miss.orchids and Mr .orchids respectively. Principal, Ms Mona Mehdi addressed and
advised the class X in a note of farewell and good wishes.

Annual Day Celebrations
‘Incredible India’, the
programme incorporating a unifying skit, songs and dances articulating the
typical art forms of the various states, conveyed the astounding unity in diversity of our country. Each and
every student of the school became a joyful participant involved in
contributing his/her best to the mighty event, enthralling the audience.
The Principal of Orchids, Ms. Mona Mehdi gave
the welcome address highlighting the achievements of Orchidians during the
year. The Chief Guest of the function was Prof. Faiz Ahmed Khan, Dept. of
Chemistry, IIT Hyderabad and the Guest of Honour was Mr. M. Venkata Narayana,
Chairman of Orchids and Gowtham Educational Institutions. They emphasized the
role of educational institutions in making students global citizens with human
values.
Merit certificates (to
Archana Dinesh and B. Sai Rohit of the academic year 2012-13) and House
trophies were given away by the Chief Guest who also released Chrysalis-2014,
the school magazine.
The participants in the
skit were from classes IX, VIII, V and III. The whole theme was interlinked
with their conversations which unified all the events into one major event. The
songs of the Annual event included the School Song, Songs in French and
Chhattisgarh and the song ‘We are the world’. Dances began with a prayerful,
traditional dance of invocation ‘Ganesh Stuthi’ continued with a dance of the
pre-primary section and folk dances of Andhra, Goa, Bengal, Gujarat, Punjab and
Kashmir. Fashion Show and Qawali formed the other attractions of the day. The
Grand Finale, ‘Mile sur mera tumhara’ conveyed the most incredible ‘Unity in
Diversity’ of the country.
The programme was well
attended by dignitaries, parents, grandparents and guardians of Orchidians and
sustained their attention from the beginning to the National Anthem which
concluded the day’s programme.
