Field Trip to Franklin Templeton (10/11/12)


The students of Classes VI – X were taken on an educational trip to Franklin Templeton Investments, Financial District on 10 November 2012 to familiarise them with the functioning of a multi national company.  They were provided details about the company and that all the 183 branches across the world have the same architectural design including the colours which are used.  The branch in Hyderabad has recently been awarded the II prize in the maintenance of their garden.   The students enjoyed the trip.

10th JLC of Orchids (9/11/12)



9th November, 2012 was the day when popular schools of Hyderabad, each represented by six students of VIII and IX classes, entered the portals of Orchids with their school flags held high. There was a readiness in them to compete with others and take the lead. Their urge to excel and take the lead was given ample opportunity at the 10th Junior Leadership Contest held at Orchids-The International School.

The aim of the Contest was to motivate the students to become effective and successful leaders in the future. The Contest was devised on the theme of leadership traits for junior school children based on the strong psychological foundation. Participants were put through specially designed tests to assess their IQ, academic achievement, physical fitness, communication skills and dynamism.

The Principal of Orchids, Mrs Mona Mehdi declared the contest open in the morning. Mr. K.R.K.Reddy, Secretary and Correspondent of Orchids- The International School was the Chief Guest of the valedictory ceremony. All the participants took part in all the events with gusto and will to win.

The first, second and third prizes in individual positions were bagged by Shreya Suri of DPS, Hyderabad, Vineetha Reddy of DPS, Secunderabad and Raihan of Oakridge International School respectively.

Swimming Competition (8/11/12)



The most awaited Inter house swimming competition in Orchids International School for classes I to X was held at Dolphin Swimming pool on 08/11/2012. The competition drew up a huge number of participants and made the happiest day for all the students participated. The participants of classes were divided into four groups A, B, C & D, which made the participants feel confidant to compete which each other in the group. There were totally 23 winners from classes I to X of both Boys and Girls.

National Schools Chess Championship 2012 - R. Raja Rithvik

Orchids – The International School is proud to state that Raja Rithvik R , a student of Class IV in our school, has bagged the Silver Medal in the National Schools Chess Championship – 2012 in the Under – 9 category held at Ludlow Castle Sports Complex, New Delhi, on the 30th October 2012.
He scored 7.5 points out of 9 rounds in the National event which had more than 100 top players from other states. The event was conducted on Swiss League basis.
Rithvik was felicitated along with his parents at a special assembly at school. Our Principal Ms Mona Mehdi complimented him on his focus, diligence and dedication towards the game. She also acknowledged his parents’ involvement in nurturing his inherent talent.
It adds to our happiness that Rithvik has been selected to represent India in the Prestigious Asian Schools Chess Championship – 2012 which is going to be conducted by the Asian Chess Federation from 13-12-12 to 20-12-12 at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. We wish him all success in the event and we hope that he will win greater laurels for our state and country.
