Prefects' Council Election (30/6/2012)

With June ending and July just round the corner, the school is buzzing with excitement. What for? Well, elections of course!
For the second time in Orchidian history, democracy reigns and the Prefects’ Council elections are taking place at the School and House levels. Over the course of the last ten days, prospective Head Girls and Head Boys of class X persuaded the students to vote for them through speeches, while nominated House Captains spoke to their Houses- Carnation, Daffodil, Marigold and Tulip- about the same. Along with the Captains, Vice-captains of Class IX are also voted for. Other important appointments include Cultural Secretary, Sports Captain and Discipline Incharge.
30th June, 2012, Election Day, has finally arrived. Pictures of the nominees have been taken and ballot boxes have been readied. All that’s left is the final casting of votes. Students of classes VI-X of Orchids-The International School are eagerly waiting to vote and welcome the Prefects’ Council of 2012. However, we also know that more than the outcome, the enriching experience of elections is important.

23.6.12 was a day of ‘KOFFEE with Parents’ at Orchids. Parents who really make a lot of difference attended the programme which was meant to be an Interactive session. Principal, Ms. Mona Mehdi gave an introductory address which was informative and promising. All about Orchids- from its Mission and Vision, its Philosophy, Policies and Rules, to its activities and endeavours to progress constantly were elaborated. Parents were also motivated to encourage their children to grab opportunities and participate in all the programmes, activities and competitions which gradually improve their skills and performance. Orchids exists for the children and their all-round development.
Mr. Sri Ram, Head of Shree Sahasraa Foundation who handles Abacus and Vedic Math classes at Orchids demonstrated how the subjects make children excel in Maths.
The Interactive Session impressed the audience and closed with Parent Representatives nominated for all the classes. Another beginning again!

Dear Parent,
I am sure the students have enjoyed with you all during the vacation and are back to school with vigour. As promised we are heading towards an eventful year with a well- planned curriculum, with activity- based teaching methodology incorporated and digitized class- rooms.
To keep you updated about the events and happenings you can visit the class blogs which also cover the syllabus to be taught in a particular month.
Kindly fill the consent slip indicating the activity the child would opt for. Please send it back to us at the earliest.
You are requested to deposit Rs. 275 with your ward’s class teacher for the issue of school diary, Year Planner and ID card. Please read the diary and fill in the details carefully. Kindly sign the diary daily.
An educational tour will be organized in the last week of September for the students of classes IV to X and a separate circular will be sent.
We need your support and cooperation for the smooth functioning of the school. You are requested not to come to pick your ward during school hours unless it’s urgent. If your child is unwell, please let him/her stay at home and take rest.
Your ward should report to school on time. Late arrivals will not be entertained. Students using the school transport should note that bus will not wait for more than 2 minutes at a particular stop. In case your ward misses the bus, the child will have to be dropped at the school.
The school uniform will be available in the school by the end of this month. We regret the delay.
Please pay the school fee of your ward on time in order to avoid inconvenience.
In anticipation for your cooperation and support.
